Trinity Youth Conference (TYC) is a youth camp/conference that was originally founded and sponsored by the Synod of the Trinity (Synod), of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). TYC has, in some form, been in active ministry since the 1950’s and has, to present, become an annual weeklong camp/conference experience for high school youth and college-age young adults. Through its intentional establishment of a safe, loving, and caring community, it seeks to provide for its participants an introduction to Jesus Christ, an experience of God’s love, and opportunities for Christian fellowship and personal spiritual and leadership development.
Through the years TYC has deeply affected and transformed the lives of many who are now church officers and parishioners through its ministry to youth and young adults. Though TYC is no longer a Synod-sponsored event, its ministry remains connected to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) through partnerships with Presbyteries and churches.
In addition to a strong and palpable sense of community that carries on even after the week at TYC has concluded, TYC’s emphasis on leadership development is another one of its hallmarks. This leadership development emphasis is exemplified through the process of planning the event each year. The Planning Team, which is made up of a different group of youth volunteers each year, is selected from among the current population of TYC participants to help plan and coordinate everything during the conference, from the theme to the workshop topics. These same individuals assume various leadership roles during the event, and work side-by-side with the adult staff in facilitating the scheduled events and teaching the Christian faith.
